Introduction
Today we are going to learn how to play House Of Gold on ukulele by Twenty-One Pilots, but first, let’s see who the Twenty-One Pilots actually are.
The ‘Twenty-One Pilots’ is an American musical duo from Columbus, Ohio. The formation of this band happened in 2009 by lead vocalist Tyler Joseph together with Nick Thomas and Chris Salih, both of them left in 2011. Since their departure, the line-up has consisted of Joseph and drummer Josh Dun.

The band independently launched two albums, Twenty-One Pilots (2009) and Regional at Best (2011), before they signed with the record label Fueled by Ramen in 2012.
Their label debut, Vessel, was launched in 2013 and became the second album in history on which every track received at least a gold certification, making Twenty-One Pilots the first band in the history of music to see every song on two albums earn gold or platinum awards.
Tyler Joseph from Twenty-One Pilots wrote House Of Gold for his mom, Kelly Joseph. The song originally appeared as a bonus track on Twenty-One Pilots‘ second self-released album Regional at Best. Later the track was re-recorded for Vessel with a different vocal track.

Playing the chords

There are 7 chords that will drive you through the song and for the most part, they’re pretty simple. The only chord that can bring you a few problems is the Bbm.
But if there’s a will there’s a way, and there are some tricks that you can use.
If you still need a little work on barre chords and you are struggling with the Bbm, we would suggest dropping off the top/G string altogether and just playing the bottom 3 strings. It’s still a barre, it’s just a little simpler.
Strumming pattern

As we already mentioned above this song belts along pretty quickly and the main man Tyler is using 16th-note strumming for the majority of the song. We have shown that pattern above.
If this maybe looks a bit confusing to you and you are not yet familiar with 16th note strumming then the simpler option to cope with it is to think about it as 2 bars rather than one.
That will give us two bars of D DUDUDU. Essentially for every chord, you would be playing two bars of that pattern. Easy!
As always, start slowly. You should start really slow and progressively increase your strumming speed and you will get there very quickly.
‘House of gold’ Ukulele Chords, Structure, and Lyrics
You should definitely take a closer look at the intro and the first instance of the chorus which is just a C chord.
There’s lots of muting going on here though. Initially when we heard it, we thought perhaps Tyler was playing a different inversion of a C chord however looking at the music video what he’s actually doing is laying his index finger across the first fret very loosely primarily muting everything but the bottom string.
The song with a repeat of the bridge however the strumming is simplified heavily. Tyler plays a single strum for every chord change. Nice and easy.
